The Logic Escapes Me

The Escape Room (Preston): Gallery

Warning: the room didn’t quite look like this… Outside the room A few hours after our visit to Escape Room Preston we were back again to take on Gallery – the Insidious Art Thief. Unsurprisingly, not much had changed in the intervening three hours, although things had become a little busier, with several hosts and teams at various stages

The Escape Room (Preston): The Mummy

Even Brendan Fraser could escape from this room… Outside the room A couple of months ago, I chanced upon a special offer that gave half price entry to The Escape Room Preston, so I couldn’t resist signing up to play two of their games over Christmas. First up was the Mummy, supposedly their easiest room, rated at

Trapped In: Time Machine

Outside the room It just so happens that one of my fellow escapers from London grew up in Bury, not very far away from where my parents live, so when Trapped In opened, it didn’t take me long to suggest a meetup. This being a fellow escape addict, it wasn’t long before playing one room had become playing

As I look back over the last year, I’m amazed by how rapidly the escape room scene has grown in London. We finished 2014 with 24 rooms hosting 13 distinct games across 8 venues. gamEscape: Golden Cage

A solid room with a frustrating finale puzzle but otherwise generally fun. Great value for two people and a good option for a family.

Incredible Midtown: The game

Outside the room When I booked Incredible Midtown, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The prices (only £12 per person plus booking fee) suggested something on the treasure hunt end of the spectrum, but there were hints that it might be a little more impressive. Certainly the pedigree gave me high hopes – Secret

Welcome to the December edition of my escape rumours post, and wow is there a lot to cover. Just last month I was worrying that I might start to run out of London escape rooms and have to go further afield, but how things change. Read on to find out more. Note that this is

I’ve been asked by several people, mainly new escape room owners, what I think makes a good host, so I thought I’d write a quick blog post. I’ve been to a fair number of escape rooms now, and I’ve seen hosts ranging from the amazing to the ridiculous, and I can tell you that it

Agent November: Murder Mystery

A game with the potential to be good but which was so badly managed on the day that we had a terrible experience. Get luckier with the hosting and coordination with the pub and accept that you can never meet the full quality of an escape room when it’s transported to a random venue, and I think you’ll have a good time.
