Tulleys Escape (Crawley): Mutiny

Tulleys deliver again with a beautiful set and solid puzzles. The one area where I felt that The Outfitters was lacking was on the physical puzzles front so it was great that this game was strong on that front with a couple of real standout elements.

Tulleys Escape (Crawley): The Outfitters

An impressive first outing for a team with plenty of experience in immersion and theatre but no background in puzzles. Outfitters is a beautiful game with solid puzzles that is about as expansive as they come – I’d highly recommend heading down if you get the chance.

Budapest Escape Review: ParaPark Budapest

The genesis of the European escape scene, I’d been looking forward to finally finding out what ParaPark had to offer. Unfortunately, the poor decor and maintenance in the games let them all down and the puzzles weren’t sufficiently earth-shattering to make up for it.

Popup Escapes (London): The Case of the Dynamo Diamonds

A very different game from your average experience. It’s not particularly challenging and, as a popup, doesn’t have the beautiful, solid finish of a permanent game. What it does have is fun – managing to be easily accessible for first-timers while still having enough that’s different from your average escape room to engage enthusiasts.

Exit The Game: The Pharaoh's Tomb (Boxed Game)

One of the strongest escape rooms in a box that I’ve played. It isn’t a match for a real escape room, but it’s a well constructed hour of fun with quality elements and good puzzles. A great way for enthusiasts to bridge the gap between escape rooms

Other World Escapes (Southampton): Mayan

A fun game that caters well to the first-time player. The puzzles are accessible, with little to get you frustrated although enthusiasts may find them lacking originality. Their focus on immersion generally paid off reasonably well.

Escape Rooms (Angel, London): Project D.I.V.A.

Another high tech room from the Escape Rooms stable. As with their other Angel room, they’ve traded some of the more difficult puzzles for a more arcade game style play which will likely appeal to some players while turning others off.

Escape Rooms (Angel, London): Dark Side of the Moon

Is this where escape rooms are heading? I hope not in their entirety but I enjoyed this style of experience as something different from your typical escape room. Less emphasis on the puzzles and more on the adventure.

Parabolic Theatre (London): Morningstar

An intriguing backstory that failed to deliver on the night. The pre-show immersion, the introduction and the sense of exploration worked well but it lost its way in the main performance and then petered out.
