Berlin Escape Review: Labyrintoom (The Cube)

A game that puts story and decoration to one side to focus on puzzles. If you’ve never played a “white room” before, then I think the surprise element here will impress but of the three I’ve played, this is my least favourite.

Berlin Escape Review: Cat in the Bag

A review of the three games we played at Cat in the Bag. Two fun games with reasonable theming and good puzzles plus one highly original game that unfortunately we hit a lot of problems with. Not high up my list in Berlin but definitely a solid venue.

A morning in Oxford: City Mazes

A review of four games at City Mazes in Oxford, none of which I’d recommend. While there were interesting moments in some of the games, they were easily outweighed by major flaws.

A morning in Bolton

A review of three rooms at No Exit in Bolton. The prettiest room was too easy, the logical room felt boring and the scary room had frustrating puzzles. Not a venue I’d highly recommend although for beginners The Tomb might work well.

Warrington and Chester: The games that time forgot

A review of four games we played in mid-2017 at Escapism and Breakout in Chester and Clue HQ Warrington. Dungeon of Doom and Teleporter were both solid games while Amphitheatre and Disturbed paled in comparison.

A Weekend in Paris

A write-up of a weekend in Paris where we played around 20 games across 10 venues. Plenty of fun but Epsilon Escape, Phobia and, of course, the Game were the highlights.

A Weekend in Paris: Escape Hunt

An enjoyable room with a few too many rough edges. The centrepiece to the game is impressive but it was somewhat spoiled for us by some clumsily added clues, a partially removed puzzle and a flat ending

A Weekend in Paris: Epsilon Escape

A thoroughly enjoyable game until we hit a breakage and some poor GM-ing that marred our experience. The Patient in Room 8 has some fun puzzles, a beautiful but simple set and plenty going for it – fingers crossed others don’t hit the issue we did.
