A Weekend in Paris: Phobia

A great game for two people that mixes some solid puzzling with steadily improving sets and plenty of theatre. Be warned though – this is a properly scary game that’s not for the faint hearted.

The very best of the Parisian venues, we played four rooms at the Game. The Plane was outstanding – one of the best games I’ve played – with Assassin’s Creed a gorgeous re-enactment of the computer game. Even Catacombs and Casino, while weak in comparison, were still strong games. If you’re in Paris, this is the place to go.
A whistlestop trip to Vienna allowed me to squeeze in a new escape room that’s opened since our main visit and a great escape room it was too. Fun decor, solid puzzles and a great sense of exploration.
A round-up of the 31 rooms that we played in Hamburg in late November 2017 including a summary of which rooms to play if you don’t have time to read the individual articles.
A review of the two games at Fluchtweg. A couple of reasonable experiences which have been created with love but struggle to match up to the quality of the other games in Hamburg.
Home to the two best games I’ve played – the Ernie Hudson mysteries. They’re the real deal: immersion, exploration, theatre, puzzles, decoration, audio, flow and narrative. In every way I can image, they deliver. And the other games aren’t bad either. If you’re ever in Hamburg go and play these games. And if you ever have the chance to go to Hamburg, seize it!
The rare room where it felt like we needed plenty of help in spite of logical puzzles. Beautifully decorated, this is a game to book at the end of a day and just relax in an immersive environment.
A round up of the six games we played across Team Escape’s two sites in Hamburg. The old site is a little bit run down but has reasonable games. The new site looks a lot prettier and generally had slightly better games but a couple were affected by questionable puzzles or GMing decisions.
A review of the four games we played at Team Breakout in Hamburg. Some dubious GM-ing decisions led to a couple of the experiences being pretty poor while none of the games we played shined.
A review of the three Hidden in Hamburg games aboard the Captain San Diego. These are some of the best escape rooms I’ve played with amazing sets, great puzzles and a great sense of exploration.
