Stuck in the Riddle (Huddersfield): The Dungeon

A fun game with a good sense of exploration, pretty decoration and a great use of space. All this was backed up by an enjoyable set of puzzles involving plenty of teamwork.

Escape Kent (Canterbury): Pirates of the Stormy Seas

A game we thoroughly enjoyed. There’s a great set, a fun intro, a great variety of puzzles, a couple of nice surprises, a good sense of exploration and an impressive finale. Throughout our time in the room, it rarely put a foot wrong.

Escapologic (Nottingham): Heistakes

A game with plenty of impressive moments – cool centrepieces, fun puzzles and an interesting storyline – but tempered by a frustrating finale and failing tech.

- Overall rating:
Unescapable (Derby): Edith

A fantastically scary game that I’d recommend to anyone who likes that genre of rooms. A wonderful sense of exploration combined with the actor interactions really help make Edith an intimidating experience.

Unescapable (Derby): Tommy

The theatrical background of the Unescapable team shines through in what they’ve produced: a beautiful, sprawling experience which immerses you in the story from well before you enter the room right to the very end.

Experimental Escape (Leamington Spa): The Machine

A fun game that, in spite of starting off in a slightly pedestrian manner, continues to improve throughout and is well into its stride for the finale. A few of the early puzzles felt like filler, but the majority of challenges were plenty of fun, and there was good player feedback throughout.

CTRL ALT ESC (Margate): Frankenscape

Pretty much everything you could want in an escape room: plenty of logical puzzles, great theming, humour and a thrilling finale. Plus – and this almost always seems to be a sign of a good room – it’s ninety minutes long, so there’s more time to build up the atmosphere.

- Overall rating:
The Panic Room (Gravesend): Dino Land

An audacious experience with a huge space, impressive centrepieces and a guided format. This felt more an adventure than an escape room but still a great experience and one that I’d thoroughly recommend.

Escape Plan (London): The Battle for Britain

A game that I thoroughly enjoyed playing. It may lack some of the high-end decoration of some London venues, but it more than makes up for that with consistent theming, a striking centrepiece, plentiful puzzles and a tension-filled finale that will keep even the most experienced team stressed till the very end.
